Loikkakopla — Gamified Parkour Learning Platform

Loikkakopla is a browser-based training system designed to deliver structured parkour, circus, and acrobatics instruction across schools and youth programs in Finland. Parkour has ranked as the most interesting sport among Finnish primary school children for multiple consecutive years ahead of football, ice hockey, and skateboarding. Loikkakopla was developed to meet this demand with a scalable, curriculum-ready digital framework. The platform is now used nationwide in after-school programs, daycare centres, and school physical education classes.

Context

Despite strong and sustained interest in parkour among children, structured teaching resources were limited.

Schools and instructors required:

  • Ready-to-use lesson structures

  • Age-appropriate progressions

  • Tools to maintain long-term engagement

  • Administrative control over groups and access

  • A system that works in standard gym environments without installation barriers

The objective was to build a national training system not a standalone game.

Scope of Delivery

Structured Training Library

Developed and organised 100+ parkour, circus, and acrobatics exercises, each supported by instructional video content.

Exercises are structured into themed “seasons,” with:

  • 15 structured training sessions per season

  • 4–7 tasks per session

  • Progressive skill development

This allows instructors to run complete training programs without separate planning.

Engagement & Progression System

Implemented a layered gamification framework designed to support sustained participation:

  • Points and medals

  • Awards and achievement milestones

  • Earnable stickers and recognitions

  • Bonus instructional videos unlocked through progress

The system reinforces skill development and commitment rather than replacing structured teaching.'

Membership & Administrative Control

Built group-level access controls and instructor permission systems suitable for school environments.

Instructors can:

  • Manage student groups

  • Monitor participation and progress

  • Adjust sessions in real time

  • Maintain structured oversight across programs

This ensures both engagement and administrative clarity.

Results

During the first national rollout phase:

  • 100% of instructors reported they would recommend the platform

  • Student participation and session engagement increased measurably

  • Lesson planning time was significantly reduced

  • Training sessions became more varied and consistently structured

The platform has received recognition and positive reception within youth training communities.

Strategic Impact:

Loikkakopla provides a structured way to deliver Finland’s most popular youth sport at scale.

The system combines:

  • Professional-level curriculum design

  • Digital engagement mechanics

  • Administrative control

  • Nationwide accessibility

It enables consistent, high-quality instruction regardless of location or instructor experience.
